EU trademark consulting

Hello, We are a new startup based in the EU. Our aim is to choose a business name and register a company in the upcoming month. We are also thinking about trademark registration in the EU and potentially in the US. We came to a point where we need a consultation. At the end of this message I will include the list of questions that we have at the moment. This job is for initial consultation and helping us to get the needed answers. Any further work such as trademark submission will be considered a separate project with a separate budget. The list of questions is below: * What would be the advantages/disadvantages of registering only in the EU vs registering only in the US vs in both areas? We plan to work with clients worldwide, but most of them will be in the EU. * What would be the steps for registering the trademark? * What would be the estimated cost of registration and related work? * How much calendar time is needed for the registration process? * We have found that there is another company in Sweden that has EU trademark for very similar name to ours. Their trademark also consists of the same two dictionary words, but in reversed order from the one that we seek. The company is operating in a different industry. How likely is that this will cause problems for us during the registration process? * How likely is it that trademark registration may be successful now, but this other company with a similar trademark will cause us problems in the future? * What steps do you recommend we take now to minimize the possibility of trademark related issues in the future? * We are also not sure that there are no more companies with similar or potentially conflicting trademarks. What strategies do you recommend for finding such potentially conflicting trademarks? We will be able to provide more information about the trademark we are seeking once we choose the consultant and sign a NDA.
