This is a device management/registry problem. There are a number of steps that I will take to isolate the issue and there are some things I need in order to do this.
What I need from you:
I need you to have reliable internet.
This will require reboots. I need you to ensure that the user login for this computer has admin rights.
I need you to set a temporary password for this login so I can reboot and reconnect without delay.
I need you to have all work saved and any open programs closed.
You can sit and watch what I do, but I need undisturbed access to your computer. Meaning I will not stop my work so you can open outlook and check email.
If you have the Windows XP disk I will need you to insert that into the CD drive in case I need it.
At a time we agree on I will issue a one time use code for logmein123. The software runs a one time only applet. You will download, install, and ultimately grant technician the ability to "perform one or more actions on your computer." This software allows me to control the computer as if I was sitting in front of it. This applet is removed once I disconnect from the session.
What you can expect:
A whirlwind of things to happen on your screen as I check out registry keys, device manager, run several windows scans, import a Microsoft tool, potentially replace corrupted files on your hard drive, and reboot the computer several times.
Depending on your hardware this could take 15 minutes or it could take 60.
I can tell you the four main causes for error 39 with device drivers and should be able to fix this easily. It could be the case that your problem is something I have not seen in my years of tech support, but I doubt it. I do offer the guarantee that if I cannot fix it you do not pay which is why I have no milestone request, but I will expect prompt payment once the problem is fixed.
