Attend an event outside of the class in a culture unfamiliar to you (that is, do something you have never done before). Feel free to take a friend or fellow classmate. However, you are responsible for writing your own report! Examples of possible events: • A service of religious faith • An arts event (theatre, music, dance, visual art, literature, film) • A cultural event specific to a particular ethnic group (eg. African drumming; Celtic dancing) • A sports event (only if you don't go to this type of event normally) • Interview someone working for a social justice/specialized group: eg. Windsor Women Working for Immigrant Women; Iris House; Children’s Aid Society; a religious leader of a specific faith; Alzheimer’s Society; Alcoholics Anonymous • Interview someone of a culture other than your own (consider race, ethnicity, religious faith, special interests) Check the Windsor Star entertainment section for upcoming events Length: 2-3 pages, double-spaced, 12 point font, Times Roman DUE: Week 10 - However, you may submit this assignment earlier. Avoid questions that can be answered with just “yes” or “no”. c. Avoid loaded questions (ones that promote a particular bias). d. Save the most difficult questions for last. e. Be sensitive to cultural differences. f. Let the respondent do most of the talking. g. Be an attentive listener. h. Stick to your interview questions. i.
