I need to know - database size, - its recovery model - network location to store the backup backup schedule In order for backup strategy to be successful, we need to create combination of Full and Incremental backups. Also, log backup schedule needs to be addressed in order to estimate how often the database log needs to backed up. This depends on the amount of data your business allows to be lost in case of a disaster. Also, if the data are critical to the business, it is advisable to have some sort of high availability in place, like Clustering or AlwaysOn (for SQL Server 2012 onwards) or Mirroring.
