It said to Abram that he was not destined to just hang around but to move on to a better destination. God had better things in mind for him. You need also to learn that you must get up and move on. There is a better place ahead of you. Abram believed and obeyed the call of God. Likewise you must believe and obey that God wants you to move on because there is a better destination ahead of you. God promised him greatness so that he would be a blessing to others. This became true in his life. As God blessed him with wealth and good esteem, Abram contributed to others, even to Melchizedek, the king of Salem, to whom he gave a tenth of everything (Genesis 14:20). You are also called to live an abundant life and contribute to others. Your abundance may not be financial but wisdom and skills that build up the life of others. God is faithful and will provide the needs of your life as you move on as Abram did. Even in a land of uncertainty, he was provided for in an abundant way. A story is told about a poor village woman who set out on a journey to find a better life for herself. She was accompanied by her crippled dog and a wise bird which sat on her shoulder. On three occasions she came to a place that seemed to be a good place for her to settle down. Each time the bird advised her to move on as better things were ahead for her. She obeyed. She overcame tough obstacles along the way and eventually she arrived at a place that was the fulfilment of all her dreams. So get up and go. Move on. You have a higher purpose in life.
