My proposed solution is not exactly matched with yours but I think it will suitable as a hidden device. Here are the specs of the audio player device 1. It has a 5mm jack to supply 12VDC power 2. It has internal amplifier 3. It has 3.5mm audio port 4. It has own WiFi access point. You can control Play, Next, Pause from smartphone. Just open the web browser and connect to the device AP then you can control it. 5. If you want to automatic playing when power is ON, it is possible. 6. Important - the device has a microSD card slot. You have to copy all mp3 audio to the microSD card and insert into the device in advanced. My proposal include software and shematic design but no making of prototype nor shipment. Additional cost will be applied if you need shipment of a sample board.

Hello. What do you think think about using esp3266 as the microcontroller and SD card as the internal storage. ESP8266 has built in WiFi but the transfer rates can be a bit slow. Alternatively ESP32 can be used. For the play back we can use a audio adc. I have worked with this microcontroller in the past and I am well aware of its architecture so programming it will be easy for me.
