We want to create a bash shell script that perform the following functionality. We have a variable in .bash_profile file called APP_LOGS. All application logs are sitting there. We want to archive logs from this place to ARCHIVELOGS folder. Once the logs are rotated, logs should be removed from APP_LOGS. Archived logs file should be zip with full compression, so it will take the least space on the disk. Archived log file should have hostname and date appended to it. Archived file should not overlap existing archived files in ARCHIVELOGS folder. I will provide further details if needed.
