Hello, what's the distance between your ESP8266 and ESP32 ? if close enough we could use TCP/IP for them to communicate over WiFi if they remotely located, we could use MQTT broker in between ( or your dedicated server if you have one) so all ESP8266 will do is send the needed data( reed status, door status, GPIO status, etc ) to this broker, data is logged on the broker and the ESP32 will then poll from this broker/server to read the data and engage further actions , i have done MQTT related project before, especially using Ubidots as broker you said your SMS functionality is fully working ? send me a message on chat please so i can take this project on Regards
