Joomla Plugin. Lots of MySql Queries. Need to rewrite to cache ahead

Hello All, I currently have a website ([login to view URL]) which has a photobattle component on it. You can see it on the first page that you go to when you go to the website. Basically two photos are loaded, and the user can vote for which one they like best. Problem is, each time the page loads, a mysql query hits that queries the database and randomly finds two photos based on the selected category defined in the joomla session for the user or guest. This makes the site very database intensive, and slow, and prevents me from being able to host it on a lower shared hosting plan. I also have modules (leader boards for instance) and component views (the winners pages) that are also very mysql query intensive. I need to cut down on the number of mysql queries so that I can host on a shared hosting plan. I need someone who knows the Joomla architecture, and knows how to rewrite components to utilize caching techniques to reduce the number of queries. Please visit my site, and let me know in a PM how you think it could be rewritten to be faster, with less queries to the database. The # of photos on each page changes seldomly... The number of wins/losses for each photo is actually stored in real time in the database so those database writes will still have to exist. I just think that querying for a new random photo every single time the page loads is what is killing my performance. In your bid, or PM to me, please explain in detail what you see as being possible. If you don't, i wont even respond to your PM as there's too much spam on this system now. Also... I'm open to a complete rewrite of the component in it's entirety to harness HTML5 as well if that's possible and would make it faster. Thanks and I look forward to hearing your ideas.
