This is a simple online office supply and book store that I want to be populated with data (currently in MS-Access format) I would also like "moduled" functions that make it very customer friendly as well as easy to maintain. For example:
I want to keep the field names currently in the Access database but be able to crosswalk those fields to the MySQL database fields. I will be updating this database on a quarterly basis and I want that process to be quick and easy for me. If a new field name appears in the update, I'd like to have an automated function that asks for me to assign a crosswalk name for that field.
The MS Access database has over 30,000 unique products with approximately 60 data elements each. The MS-Access database has fields that aren't in the MySQL database that is currently on the site so they must be added. This site has just been installed and only has the default "sample" data in it. The MS Access Database already has built-in relationships neccessary for queries that are built. I need to access the query information also.
For example:
"Table 1" may have a field name of "MSN" (Manufacturer Short Name)
"Table 2" may have a field name of "OIN" (Our item number)
"Query Table 1" may have a result of joining the two "MSN+OIN" (The combination of the two) which becomes "New Item Number"
I want to be able to insert "$New Item Number" into my page where desired.
I also will be selling print services. With that, I'd like to have the ability to ask a customer to fill in informaton that will used to produce printed materials with their information on it. For example:
Business Cards -
The customer would enter their name and select a desired font (including size, color, style, etc).
The customer would then enter the same type of information for their business name.
The customer would then have an option of uploading their logo and choosing the position.
The customer would then have options of quantity and other atributes desired.
The customer would then have the option to purchase the order or save in a "wish list"
The example above is desired as well as having a catalog of other "Forms" that could be customized in the same manner. They would have the choice of entering data neccessary for populating the information manually or choosing to populate with previously stored data. For example:
The business name, address, phone, type of business, etc...
Security of the site and data is also a must.
I hope this is clear enough. I'm using (and a little familiar with) Dreamweaver. I am open to, and ask for, any ideas that can make a pleasant buying experience for my customers.
