I would like an update system designed in PHP that I can incorperate into my current PHP products. Basically I would like a script I can place on my server that when called remotely and passed a version number it will look in a directory for all versions higher than the one passed, open the folder for the next available update and send back a list of files for download. The other part of the script should be a client script that called the aforementioned server script, passes in a version number, receives the file list and starts to download the files to a temporary directory for the update. Once downloaded the client script should parse the downloaded files for any .sql files and execute their contents so the mysql database gets updated with whatever mysql commands it contains. Lastly the client should parse some sort of file that includes the paths that all the downloaded files belong in and then proceed to move each file to its final destination which should finish the update. The temp directory and files should then be removed. The ability to download just one zip, tar or tgz file and then extract it to the temp folder would also be nice so they dont end up waiting for 20 files to download and only wait for one. This sounds difficult but it really should be quite simple and sweet; I've made this exact script in the past but ended up losing it in a hard drive failure so I know it isnt extremely difficult. Only PHP will be accepted, version 4 or 5. Thanks, Michael RushTheWeb
