Extract data from outlook email (.msg) files in an Excel or XML sheet

hi, I have code to read .msg files and extract data from the file. I also have code to put the data into an excel file. all I need to do is to put the two pieces together to create your program. Hi, I can do this and had done similar work before. I have few questions before proceeding. 1)What fields you want to capture,e.g. From, to, subject, content, etc. 2) Do you want the mail content should be saved as html code or plain text. Extracting saving the content as html code is required if it contains rich text. 3) Whether the msg contains any attachments, if so then how you want me to save. If it contains attachments then I can extract it and put in a folder and the put the path to that file in excel. 4) What is the minimum windows os you want. Now a days it's generally windows 7 or higher. Here is what I am going to do. 1) For all you requirements the best approach would be to create a Windows service application. 2) It will sit in the system tray, visible with an icon. 3) You can right click on the icon to get the context menu option. There you can configure A. the msg folder path and output folder path. B. The schedule for running the Application in background. C. Excel file name format with an inti name and datetime appending or something else of your liking. 4) If the laptop or computer is off during the scheduled time then the program will run once the os starts. 5) I will provide the program as an installer or setup package. In one day I will provide you with solution based on Java, by utilizing Apache POI HSMF project which implements the Outlook processing interfaces. Output will be CSV file (table in Excel) As part of delivery I will create EXE file for windows so you can easily run. Java runtime environment (virtual mahine) will be part of the project.
