fix php error on codeigniter site migrated from CI 2.x to CI 3.0.6

Hello All, I am looking to update a Multi-Vendor Webstore. The updates or additions I am looking for would be: 1.) inventory functions for Item Variations; The current state allows items with variations, it just does not keep track of the inventory of item variations for the vendors. 2.) internal messaging for vendors and customers; Currently the site uses External Email, I would like to change this to internal messaging. 3.) tax section to use shipping zip code: Currently the site uses the two letter shipping state abbreviation to charge tax, this needs to be updated to use a shipping zip code 4.) add shipping api’s; I would like to add shipping options to the Site using shipping API's
