I recently needed a billing platform for one of my own businesses and ended up building something off an open source platform that worked really well for me. It is able to manage customer contact details, product information, estimates/quotes, invoicing and recurring invoicing. Invoices are send via mail through the system as both HTML and a PDF, they can also be can also be sent directly from the creation page making it easy to create invoices or estimates and send them immediately to the customer. I am able to do this from my smart phone which makes quoting and invoicing really simple and efficient. For a demo please contact me and I can give you details to use my now demo site.
