Start Event

This app will make it easier for people in the Rollins community to be updated about events taking place on campus with the ability to “star” chosen events. The selected events will then be transferred into a calendar. The app will send timely notification about the “starred” events in order to remind people when, where and what is taking place on any given day at Rollins. The source of the information will be drawn from the Rollins Online Calendar, which lists all events scheduled and will break it up into various categories. The app will turn the calendar into a fun, interactive and informative source of free information at the disposal of students, faculty, staff and Winter Park residents. This app will hopefully increase event attendance, as well as create a way of reminding users to attend the selected events. Features: The app will enable users to see the list of all Rollins events taking place and allow them to select the events they are interested in attending. Each time an event is “starred”, it will automatically transfer to the calendar in the App, which will send a timely notification to remind the users of the selected events. The app will also include a reminder alert when the event is approaching. Events will be listed chronologically by • title • time • date • location Diagram 4 Calendar layout will feature: • Month view of calendar • Right hand panel includes month choice • Options available: color highlight in orange, yellow, light blue (marker will indicate color) • D-star option (d-star color: light blue) Customer Segment: This app will be designed for Rollins students, professors, alumni, staff and Winter Park residents. The potential customer segment could expand to other academic institutions in the area. This Rollins app could fundamentally become an example platform for how to successfully reach students, faculty, staff and residents in a well organized, user friendly, interactive concept. Channels: The app will be made available through the Apple store (designed for Ipad and Iphone). We will advertise through Rollins social networks such as the Rollins Email and ideally the main Rollins website. Additionally, social networks such as Facebook and Twitter will be used as advertising platforms. Simple flyers can be designed and distributed across campus and Winter Park in order to attract attention. Revenue Model: High quality google type banner ads. The nature of our app requires a relationship with Rollins College. We cannot charge for an application with information that is already accessible to students at no cost.
