A site is located on a tributary of the River Mersey and consists of embankments along the banks of the tributary. Significant flood risk exists to a village situated close to the river banks and as such your firm has been commissioned to design the flood defence system. The tributary banks (on which the embankment sits) are in a poor state of repair and as such some movement of the embankment has occurred. The two key aims that must be achieved are: (1) Secure the stability of the embankment. (2) Improve the integrity of the flood defences (new defences have been deemed necessary in this case). Submission: This should include: (1) A detailed review of the problems including various design options that exist. At least two must be considered in detail and solutions for each presented. These must be distinctly different; (2) For each design option consider all aspects of sustainability, including impact of energy, water, materials, community, transport, biodiversity, local infrastructure and waste, and, (3) Compare the two schemes and with justification select which option you would select. Make sure you discuss how you could meet these objectives sustainably, highlighting this across design and construction in the context of the social, environmental and economic pillars of sustainability. The report should be fully referenced and should be 5 pages (sides) maximum (excluding references ONLY). Appendices, table of contents, summary or title page should NOT be included. Any pages over the limit will incur a 5% penalty per page. I need it in 40hrs, Half in 20hrs
