Select a scholarly article and translate it into a press release for a general audience. Condense (summarize) the information from the article into a two-page release for a potential audience that may publish the results in news venues. After selecting and reading the article, do a prewriting that identifies the rhetorical context (topic, author, audience, and purpose) and the SLR conventions (structure, language, and reference) of the work. See the sample translation on pp. 133-136 in your text. Follow the heading format on p. 133, and include a link to the full article at the end of the release, and an MLA style works cited page. Tips You are writing a summary of the article for a non-academic audience. This will affect your rhetorical choices: consider the author, topic, audience, and purpose as you are writing the translation. Source for scholarly articles: Go to NC Live and click on "Articles", and then select "ProQuest Central." Put your topic in the search box and make sure that "Peer Reviewed" is checked. (Your student ID number is the password for NC Live.) I do not care about the topic of the paper, I just won't be able to get it done by tomorrow at 11:00 PM with all the other homework I have to get done.
