Italian Editor - Italian Language Program for Families

Hello! Our team is looking for a native speaking, Italian woman to be part of our translation team for the Italian [login to view URL] program. Our program helps families to talk in a foreign language in their home the same day they start. For your job, we don't simply want the English translated. We want the Italian to be what a mother or child would actually say in Italian in that situation. The English is just a starting point that can be changed to communicate what Italians really say. We prefer to work with women who are constantly talking to children in their daily lives. This helps the dialogue to be more authentic--how families really talk at home. We never want direct translations. We want what a family member would really say in that situation. The families that use our program have teenagers all the way down to babies. So we want to be mindful of all of them. This is a lot of fun and really allows the families to experience your culture through language. As an editor, your job is two-fold. (1) Is the translation what a family member would really say in that situation? If I said a certain phrase in front of your friends, would they laugh at me or think I'm from your town? (2) Are the spelling and grammar perfect? Everything we make is sent to print and loaded into an app, so we cannot have errors. There will be a lot of back and forth as we perfect our Italian product, so you need to be a good communicator. :: First, you edit a draft in our sheet layout. :: Second, you edit the final proof. During this process, the translator will accept or reject your edits to get to the best version. We will be working on this project for the next three weeks. You need to be available for a lot of back and forth as we finalize everything. We might also need to schedule screen share meetings with you as we finalize the prints.
