Hello, I am a native German speaker, and even if I am an Illustrator, I am also a published author, writing (and translating EN->GE) since 1983. During that time I did pretty much everything from 4-page to 876-page technical manuals through websites through non-fiction books through lip-sync preparation for movies to, just these days, language education software. My knowledge focus points are art, technology, lifestyle/health, finance/economics and marketing. I do NOT write for religious or political parties and "money making" schemes and I do not promote substance use - but that does not seem to be the case here, anyway. No "translation software" is used, ever, period. My "reviews" here at Freelancer-com should speak for themselves, I guess. I am used to work with code, like you describe it in your project - I have translated around 100 websites (or maybe more...), and a good part of them was in gettext (.po) setups.
